I Wanna Know

One night as I tucked my daughter into bed,
She looked at me and said,

"Tell me about all that lives in the ocean.
Tell me why is Antarctica frozen?

I wanna know why do flies bug us?
And are there more bugs below us?

Tell me where do babies come from?
And why doesn't everyone have some?

Please, tell me why chickens can't fly.
Do they feel left out when the other birds are in the sky?

Tell me about the sky, the Moon, and stars.
Tell me why are they so far?

I wanna know all there is.
I wanna see all that exists.

I wanna know our history.
I wanna learn all the songs to sing.

Tell me about the animals and plants.
And are we all here by chance?

Tell why are we here?
Did we arrive on a wing and a prayer?

Will this world ever change?
Will this world always be the same?"

The innocence of children is so sweet.
It can give one hope when the future looks bleak.

I didn't have all the answers she wanted.
She'd given somethings to ponder.

To her i said, "We learn as we grow
And in time, you will know.
God gave us this life to live.
To experience all that this life has to give."
