Life and Money

Here we are on this planet together.
Each one of us on the earth tethered.

Conceived by parents. No choice in the matter.
Arriving at a set of coordinates to start our 1st chapter.

As we grow into the person we're meant to be,
We start to learn from the time we open our eyes and see.

We learn about our culture and how to behave.
We learn expectations. Some paths already paved.

As a child, our goal is to be an adult.
Children feel powerless, like life is at a halt.

At a young age we see that for money, people are slaves.
Everyday adults go to work, with the anticipation of getting paid.

As children, we watch and we notice,
That money has much importance.

Everyone, everyday working tirelessly.
Until the day they get paid wirelessly.

So, as children, we set our aspirations high.
To get the best job they will pay the highest price.

Striving to climb that social ladder.
Thinking money is all that matters.

Society revolves around monetary value.
People working such long hours.

Time spent on worry and strife.
Missing out on the important events in life.

Like watching their children grow.
Money was the seed they sowed.

All things given a value, a price set.
It feels as if a break you may not get.

Those with the most money are on top.
Those with less to show
Are placed below.

Money is needed for food and shelter.
Without food, we starve.
A roof over your head is a protector.

The things that have been gained
May be usefull; may keep us dry from the rain.

It's ok if the memories of our families fail to remain.
Look at all the money we obtained.

It makes sense that all of humanity would spend their reality
And all their vitality to increase their principality.

The one who worked the most
Gets to boast about how much he grossed.

Everyday sacrifices were made
In order to get paid
A better wage.
And when we have aged,
The money made is how we'll be gaged.

Now we've grown old
And there's no one to hold.
All we have to show
Are our riches and gold.

How much is a life worth?
We put a value on the earth.

Why is money the most important thing?
Why do we think money brings
Us happiness?
This Life was meant
To live in content.

When we leave world and lie,
In our grave after we die,
What good is all the money had?
Will others think of us feeling glad?

What kind of legacy do we leave,
When our story was all about money?

And we see our maker, what will he say?
What will happen on judgement day?

Love and compassion are priority.
Show kindness with sincerity.

Everyone is searching for the same thing.
Looking for the happiness this life can bring.
