I Stop and I Think

When I wake up in the morning,
As my thoughts are forming.
I look at the empty pillow beside me,
And I tell myself "it's good to be free".
I don't need someone to bind me.

These are lies I tell myself.
Sometimes they seem to help.
I've been in the dating scene.
It seems all men want the same thing.
Either a girl on their arm, to wear as a charm,
Or they're looking for a honey
Who has lots of money.

Everyday I stop and think why?
Why not just give up and die?
No one else cares about love.
People don't want to be part of
Something meaningful.
They're mindlessly driving a vehicle.

It seems that people have forgotten,
How to be kind, they treat others rotten.
Where can all the humans be?
What happened to humanity?

All I see are robots.
How is it that everyone forgot?
They've forgotten how to be real.
They've forgotten how to feel.

Everyday, I stop and think why?
Why is it I live this life?
Struggling to get by.
This life only seems to bring strife.

When I go to work,
In the shadows people lurk.
People's agendas are hidden.
Now this world is war-ridden.

Shadows of what humanity was.
People, look at the stars above!
Open your eyes!
Just give it a try!
You're not the only here.
Look around at your peers.

Everyday I stop and think, why?
Why are we here if no one will try?
Try to be kind to one another.
Treat your neighbor like a brother.

When I go to the bar,
All I see are avatars.
People put on their mask.
Reciting lines like part of a cast.
Somehow they're all part of the same show.
Somehow I'm the only one now in the know.

Everyday I stop and think.
Our ship is going to sink.
I'm tired of the games people play.
There's not much else I can say.
Tell me, why does it have to be this way?
