My Husband, My Best Friend

This life we built together,
I wouldn't trade it for another.
Though much we have suffered,
We still love each other.

You've been my rock, my foundation.
We met at the train station.
Didn't know if I was coming or going.
But I met you and felt my heart growing.

My husband and my best friend,
To you I will always lend
A helping hand, I'll be there if you need.
Like you've always been there for me.

So grateful for this time we've had.
When I was sad, you'd help me feel glad.
My apologies, I've said too much, yet not enough.
I never quite figured out my emotional stuff.

Now, I see so clearly in this moment.
I have many regrets. I can own it.
What I really want to say is that, "I love us."
If I had to live this life again, having you would be a must.

This life that we've shared,
Has been without compare,
The most fun and adventurous.
Not to mention incredibly sensuous.

From the start, you loved me deeply.
Though it took me a while to see.
Through the thickest of trees
We have continued to believe
That you and me, we're meant to be.

Love Always & Forever,
You Wife & Best Friend

P.S. When it all goes up in smoke,
I'll be laughing at all your jokes!
