Redundant Agonies

George Hay 1961 (Pittsburgh Pa)

A simple sentence
innocently spoken
turns the mind
with emotions broken.
What if its true
when it was said
soon feeds itself
inside my head.
There is no switch
to stop my fall
into the void
becomes my all
with legions freed
and creeping dread
my thoughts of solace
for sure are dead
into the pool
of depthless ponder
my fragile mind
is left to wander
to where I've drifted
cannot be taught
swift swirling eddy
of endless thought
into this current
my centers drift
with sense of self
my mind cant sift
to curse this cycle
that has no end
with no intention
my mind cant bend
i cant control
i cannot drop
this hope so futile
my mind wont stop
there is no pleasure
confused by pain
this vicious cycles
anguished refrain.

I really liked this. I thought you captured the 'endless cycle ' of thought, very well
