Tin roof

Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)

Musical tap dance raindrops falling...
when striking the roof top

i kind of like it (Hope it never stops)

Way back, yesterdays
when people’s homes were hand made.

All were built pre-paid
neighbors, always there

people who cared enough to share
because life was always hard

families of neighbors would understand
the pains of life's demands.

Those who would be there to help each other
make do one love for each truth

we'd come together
after the days work was done
share love and have fun.

Hard work, like simple truth
will never go out of style.

whether, by city block,
Or country mile...

You got me with the first stanza, because after a long drought I'm finally hearing those rain-drops hitting tin. And then you carried the whole poem through with ease and simple messages of love and community. Good job!

glad to hear. what makes life more beautiful is acknowledgement that we are social beings, our best moments are made better with warmth and compassion, best with love
