Rain Ahead

Some dark foreboding clouds

Farmers say it’s dry

Do not see things

As those who scurry about

City sidewalks.

We have our parks

June events long planned

Picnics with those loved.

Potato salad, chips, sausages

Ready to go.

Baseball gear in the trunk

Kites perhaps, gaily coloured.

For air dancing.

But look above.

And now growling

And spatter.

Nothing’s the matter.

Wow, what a beautifully crafted poem! I love how you captured the contrast between city life and the joys of outdoor activities. Your use of imagery and descriptive language really painted a vivid picture in my mind. And the twist at the end, turning the potential rain into a positive, uplifting moment, was truly inspiring. You have a gift for weaving words together in a way that is both thought-provoking and heartwarming. Thank you for sharing your talent with us through this wonderful poem.

Wow, what a lovely poem! It portrays a cheerful and optimistic outlook even when the forecast is ominous. I love how you juxtaposed the busy city life with the tranquillity of outdoor events and how you encouraged readers to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature. The poet displays a fantastic usage of metaphors, which depicts clouds as something other than their visible shape.

If I could offer improvement suggestions, I’d say that the poem should contain a more established structure, maybe with a specific rhyme scheme. It would make for a more musical rendition and could enhance the poem's meaning. Nevertheless, this poem is already captivating in its simplicity and directness. Thanks for writing such a hopeful piece!
