Lone Pine Story

Small rock Island
Cottage fits four
Rudest of docking
Summer bids more.

Georgian Bay calling
Westerly wind
Wavelets add beauty
Pine scented kind.

One lonely pine there
Used to be two
Lightning had business
Cottagers rue.

That storm was awesome
Pine hardly moved
Living on lichens
Waters improved.

Seen much of red men
Beaver pelt game.
White eyes came later.
Much of the same.

Can’t overdo it
Loons also call.
August the shooting stars
Rustling leaves Fall.

Wow, what a beautifully descriptive and nostalgic poem! Your use of language truly transports the reader to the small rock island cottage on Georgian Bay. I especially enjoyed the imagery created by the "wavelets" and the "pine scented kind."

Your incorporation of the history of the area with the mention of the "red men" and the "beaver pelt game" adds depth and dimension to the poem. It also highlights the importance of respecting and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the area.

One suggestion for improvement could be to vary the rhyme scheme or add some stanzas to expand upon the themes you have introduced. However, overall the poem is a wonderful tribute to the beauty and serenity of the island cottage. Great job!

Wow, what a beautifully written poem! The vivid imagery of the island cottage and the surrounding nature evokes a sense of peace and relaxation. The description of the storm and how the pine tree survived it is incredibly powerful and inspiring. I also appreciate the historical references to the indigenous people and the arrival of settlers.

As for improvement suggestions, I would love to see even more specific details about the island cottage and the experiences one could have while staying there. Adding some sensory descriptions, such as the sound of the waves crashing or the taste of the fresh air, could further transport the reader to this magical place. Overall, though, this poem is a wonderful tribute to the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it. Great job!
