Matriarch

Matriarch

Our legacy taken by the ones called friend
They stabbed in the right places
Took from us what was not theirs
Built upon shoulders standing strong
Passing silently in the night we wept

She raised us as best she could
Alone she made her way on her own
A foreign land from whence she came
She held her head high and persevered

Father & Mother bore the three
A sister left for her own ambitions
A brother who had no clue at all
A son who was lost in his own chaos

Her strength and confidence commanded attention
Qualities not seen but surely garnered
Made her way thru the struggles of life
Honest and unyielding she gave
Never taking always leading

Matriarch she led the way
Guiding us she did what was best
Her heart full of LOVE she never gave up
Crying late into the night she waited
Never letting go of how much she cared

Far away and elusive we were divided
Living our lives our own families we lost
The bond of a family never kept us together
The distance was but an excuse for us to stray

Time passes and our sight is lost upon the horizon
Seeing only what we see for ours and nothing else
A matriarch is lost in madness behind her eyes
Slowly alone and afraid she lost her own

A Love never let go she longed for her only Love
Crying she always looked to the sky above
Looking for her Love lost she waited
Her job done she let go
Her strength ebbing no more to impart
She did her best

No one could have asked for more
She gave herself till the end
Her mind but a reality in and of it's self
Sorrow long forgotten she passed

Reunited with her only Love
At last together they smile upon us
The three bore by
Father & Mother such as they be

I Love you Mother, and Father I love you
I miss you both

Thank you for all you did for me

Leonard Castillo

I have a terminal illness, that has brought me to realize we are fragile as is Crystal. There was a book of poetry published many years ago; titled The Colors of Life. I had a poem published in it. I am very proud of those words that I hope give inspiration to others. This platform is needed to share and inspire others to use their words to help growth, and understanding be it good bad or indifferent. My time is short so I hope my words can inspire whom ever reads them to reach new heights of their Lives... L. more…
