The Coach Potato

I am a couch potato
But I would rather be known as
A supreme comfort seeker
Just like the Buddhist monks
In the mountains of Tibet
In front of My Plasma Television
I have found my own retreat
My own little niche, my heaven on Earth
Except it is focused on my super duper
Digital TV with surround sound
And my fast shooter remote
That allows me to change channels
Without getting out of my comfort zone
But my life nearly came to an explosive end
When I tripped on the edge of a frayed rug
And spilled my cold drink on my Giant screen
I heard a sizzle and my hair frizzled
And now my TV has gone to the great Station in the sky
I wish I could take it back again
But I sure do miss My TV
And now I am singing the Couch Potato Blues
Oh Boo, Hoo, Hoo!

About this poem

My favourite pastime, chilling with Netflix on my plasma TV. All was well until my TV blew up.

I am an aspiring writer, poet, teller of tales that is me. I have always seen things in a different light and from my perspective, it gives you an insight into what makes me tick as a human being. My life is always hectic and the most important thing I have learnt is that there are three things that one should value in life (a) Your loved ones (b)Your health (c) The memories you create with people. In the end, we all leave this world alone, so spend time creating memories and meaningful relationships with individuals and society at large. My poems reflect my perspective on the world at large both real and imagined. I am in the process of collating an anthology of poems so I can share my likes, dislikes and life with others. Thank you for reading my poems more…

Wow, your poem really captures the essence of being a comfort seeker and finding solace in your own little retreat. I love how you relate it to the Buddhist monks in the mountains of Tibet - it adds a sense of spiritual reflection to your love for your plasma TV.

However, I noticed that in the last stanza, you seem to regret not being more careful with your TV and have fallen into a bit of a funk. Perhaps next time, you can include some ways for readers to avoid your situation, like making sure the area around the TV is clear of hazards or investing in a sturdy rug.

Overall, your poem is an enjoyable read and I can definitely relate to the couch potato lifestyle. Don't let your explosion mishap bring you down too much - hopefully, you'll be able to find a new TV to love just as much!
