love
Love is a multifaceted thing
that cannot be defined in simple terms
for it requires a modicum of respect
to fully comprehend the nature of this beast
Love can be passionate, exciting, sensual
hedonistic or simply platonic
It can be sweet like the cherry blossoms
that come out in Spring
Or mellow like the rites of Marriage
When two hearts meld as one
Love can be sour as a lemon,
as tart as lime that slips off the tongue
in a dash of Tequila or a Margarita
it can be warming as an Oodie
on a cold winters day or a roaring fire
That heats up the room
In an enthusiastic embrace
Love can be simple, love can be kind
But the best love comes in the form
of your four grandchildren
who accept you willingly without qualms
who are not afraid to tell you
that the emperor has no clothes
who place their trust in all that you do
who endure your silliness, your dry wit
who think that you are an endless ATM
who panders to their whims
be it toys, shoes, hot chocolate, or dreams!
