Take a Little Off the Top

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Its funny when you feel the fade
In the early morning hours
The shadow of death is creeping in
And still you have no power

You move the way you always have
But just a whole lot slower
When you go out to trim the lawn
When you get out the mower

The grass can see you coming
But the roots won’t let it move
It knows it’s being cut down
But it still keeps growing too!
