Retirement

Roy Blokker 1950 (The Netherlands)

It's so nice to no longer have to tear around anymore,
To wake up in the morning or later in the day and not
have to rush out the door,
And instead grind fresh coffee beans and savor the
     smell,
And not have to listen to all those supervisors who just
     love to yell.
I'm my own boss now.
And although I have to find ways to downsize my
     lifestyle somehow,
I think I can do it with ease
Because my steaming cup of coffee and my six pack of
remotes bring me a  modicum of peace
And I no longer cling to all those loud, divergent views.
I watch something old instead of the news.

A delightful poem about how retirement has been very kind to you !
From toddler, teenager, youth,, middle age to elder statesman !
In my life I have always liked structure and with the elder years, your life is an open book with no ending !
That is the time to be a poet of sorts !
    Time flies like an arrow
Fruit flies like a banana !

Thank you for your kind and clever words. A young friend of mine told me that wasted hours are the best, as long as you waste them wisely.
