Another

And yet another life well lived,
Another human being just trying to be good,
Going about their daily living aisle by aisle
Planning for the evening meal
Taken
Not by God or disease or accident or age
But by unnecessary hatred
Again
And yet again
While the rest of us stood and watched
Just glad it wasn't us,
Remotely sorry.

About this poem

It is so hard to put some reactions into words. These are my few words regarding the terrible tragedy in Buffalo, NY, and the seemingly endless list of similar events in our country, for what it's worth.
