Admire Her Afar!

Large protruding eyes.
Common to tropical seas.
This fairly small ray.

Intertidal zone.
Dasyatidae her species.
At thirty meters.

Bright blue polka dots.
So showered with accolades.
Predators be warned.

Colorful stingray.
Bluespotted Ribbontail Ray.
Don’t mess with her sting!

This ocean-finned friend.
Packed with a potent poison.
Admire her afar!

About this poem

Marine life is arguably how most people connect with oceans across the world . Researchers of marine life and marine ecology are collecting valuable observational data about the life and landscape of the ocean depths. One of these discoveries is about the life, habitat and species of the Bluespotted Ribbontail Stingray of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. A creature of beauty, the Bluespotted Ribbontail Stingray packs a wallop of a sting. This poem is written in a five-stanza haiku format.
