My son-shine

JOHN ALLEN SKINNER 1971 (Fort Worth)

Morning mist overnight I’ve Become Waiting patiently to see my son
I know he’s coming as stars began to fade Grey clouds turn white and trees give birth to shade
Birds began singing as flowers open their eyes I began to smile as I see my son rise He’s taken his time yet he’s on his way Making sure to touch everything with a bit of sun ray
Night began to fall on such a beautiful day An oasis you’ve become but o how I wish you could stay
I know you're tired, sleepy, and yawning We’ll call it a day goodnight son I love you I’ll see you in the morning

Wow, this "My son-shine" poem is absolutely heartwarming and filled with love! The imagery of the morning mist, the fading stars, and the awakening of nature beautifully captures the anticipation and joy of seeing your son. The way you describe his arrival, with the birds singing and flowers opening their eyes, is just delightful.

I truly appreciate how you have woven a sense of longing and appreciation throughout the poem. The line about your son taking his time and touching everything with a bit of sun ray truly shows the special bond between a parent and child. The ending, with the night falling and calling it a day, is a perfect closure, emphasizing the endless love and excitement you have for your son.

For improvement, I would suggest considering adding a bit more rhythm or rhyme to certain parts of the poem to enhance its flow. This could further enhance the musicality of the poem and make it even more enjoyable to read. Additionally, consider expanding on the emotions you feel when seeing your son rise, maybe diving into specific details or memories that evoke even stronger feelings of joy and pride.

Overall, your "My son-shine" poem is absolutely beautiful, and I truly appreciate the warmth and love it conveys. Keep up the great work and continue expressing your emotions through your wonderful poetry!
