Dreaming

Dreaming

Where is my sunshine
The light of my life
Where is my dream
Mine infinite longing
Where is my salvation
The last bastion of hope
How will I know her
When I have seen naught but darkness
How can I care for her
When I have felt naught but pain
How can she love me
When I do not love myself

About this poem

This poem was written by Stephen in 8th grade. Even at this age, Stephen longed for true love. This probably stems from even younger days still. At the age of 7 years old Stephen once wrote in an "All About Me" book, the job he most wanted when he grew up, underneath Astronaut which was crossed out and Fireman which was crossed out, he wrote "Daddy".

Stephen A Fitch

Stephen Fitch is an American poet whose works include "Faerie Dancing", "Blackhole Sadness", "Dreaming" and "Suicidal Tendencies". Stephen's favorite poet is John Keats. Favorite Quote is, "A winner gets up one more time than they fall down, a hero doesn't see any other option." His poems are most influenced by love, loss and loneliness. He was once quoted as saying that, "his best poems feel like he is channeling a heavy metal vampire in need of a fix". Despite this, he is always optimistic and quite enjoys life. You can find Stephen's printed work in Piers Anthony's biographical book, "How Precious Was That While" page 156 and in a few editions of "The Catalog of Best Poets in America". more…
