Analysis of I'm Taking Beauty Back
BEAUTY
It's what society tells me to be.
It is a prison, I am inside just waiting
Until the day I can't stand up and tell them:
"Look, this is me! I don't care what you say. I am beautiful in HIS eyes!"
But I am struggling to break free; I am still a slave to THEIR beauty.
So in this prison I stay
Hypnotized by their lies that get under my skin:
"Nip this! Tuck in that!
You're too big, you're too thin!"
I just can't win!
No matter how hard I try to follow their rules, it's NEVER good enough!
I am sick and tired of working to meet their expectations;
Trying to reach their levels of perfection. I can't do it!
No matter what I do, I will never be beautiful in THEIR eyes.
That is why I am taking BEAUTY back!
I can no longer stay in this prison called society,
I can no longer follow their rules!
It will never be good enough, so honestly, why try anymore?
I know God sees my BEAUTY; it's true.
I am precious in HIS eyes!
My last word to society: Look! This is me! I don't care what you say. I am beautiful in HIS eyes!
