Release

~My skin
Smooth to the touch
Soft, delicate, gentle…
As I run my fingers on this delicate surface
I am not satisfied at the feeling.
Pain inside undeniable -
Heart aching for release.

~This blade, I hold in my hand
Sharp to the touch
Hard, violent, rough… and swift
As I slide it across this delicate surface, my skin.
Sweet crimson dripping down the side
A satisfying feeling within;
 Pain outside undeniable -
But release feels nice.~

I know how it feels
You are not the only one
With the desire to kill the pain inside
But this is not the way.
I know desperation for release often leads us in this direction,
But I am telling you now, stop hurting yourself!
It may make things okay temporarily,
But it leaves you scarred permanently.
And I'm not just talking on the outside…
But inside.
Don't let this take control of you,
Or it will take away everything.
So now I am begging you from the bottom of my heart, please
Stop doing this.
You have so much worth
You don't even know.
And your life is important;
Don't let this take it away.
