Analysis of Through a Quiet Past

The past was meant to be forgotten; people are keen to believe so
But not for those whose children sleep in graves, below
For them, the past is a retreat where they can always go
Because warm memories convey relief
Finding the part of life, in which the child lived.

I seek refuge in the endearing past to get a glimpse of you
Murmuring crowds parade the ground of Time, waving adieu
Behind, in stillness, remains the past obscured by foggy air and silver dew
Onto my knees, with rolled up sleeves, my hands uncover the wet dirt through
Tears roll burning and as I come upon the crystal stream,
Its gentle waves start to entwine and bring to life your calm face, like a daydream

I sit on a limestone, perceiving your smile full of grace
Feeling so good and free and peacefully embraced
I am so tempted to touch your face; I cannot bear the deceiving,
Instead, I bend upon the stream to hear your whisper breathing
As captivating tales unfold, my mind recalls…, or so I thought,
The water keeps its course; under the moon, your lips are shut
What difference does it make? Because I’ll linger here, no matter what.
The wind that’s drifting in my hair is soft and warm and I’m adorned
I do not move and want the moment to standstill
To look at you until the water reaches the downhill
Ever so gently is wrapping-up your face and slowly goes away
Far, at skylines, the dawn awakens restoring, yet, another day.
