Analysis of Poetic Life

Tabitha J. Bryson 1973 (Indianapolis, Indiana)

When you read my poems
you are seeing into my heart
do I seem unnaturally negative
or perhaps a little bit tart?

Do you see a flood of tears
running between the lines?
Do you feel my sense of humor
the hidden punch lines?

My soul is in every word
every line that is said
I bare my all to you
welcome into my head.

Seeing life
filtered through my eyes
gives you a sense of depth
joy cannot be denied.

My thoughts run through
sometimes way too fast
it can be hard to keep up
the distance is so vast.

All my thoughts and feelings
it can all be found right here
read these at your leisure
please, pull up a comfortable chair.

It'll be a wild ride
and perhaps a strange one, too
but hopefully I've touched your heart
and haven't made you feel too blue.

But that's life as they say
and it ain't always supposed to be pretty
because if you lose the ugly
then you'll also lose the poetry.
