Some Of What Was Left

Copper pots
old whistling teakettle
dust covering everything
a can full of pencils.
Her old clothing
lying all about
cat food & kitty litter
not a cat in the house.
More books than anything
cases & cases chock full
ice cold orange colored well water
that I've never understood.
Mice scampering
room to room
her old upright piano
supposed family heirlooms.
Outdated furniture
built to last
steamer trunks & chests
a time long since past.
So much stuff
can't keep track
memories died with her
never to come back.
