Your Cheek Rests On My Shoulder

Your cheek rests on my shoulder. My chin leans on your head.
There is an even breathing as the day's tensions we shed.

Our hands are interlacing with a gently soothing touch.
The feelings are unspoken while the silence says so much.

Our heartbeats are synchronized in rhythmic unison.
We are separate entities but commingling as one.

Our footsteps are in cadence like
sequential harmony.
We walk beside each other with sweet equanimity.

Our philosophic outlooks purvey mutual tradition.
Life choices we've selected are shared by our ambition.

Our respect for each other is egalitarian.
Reciprocating balance makes us Unitarian.

In the cool of the evening we repose by fireplace.
We cast our cares on the coals and in quietude embrace.
