Universal

A universal language that's rich and deep,
Romantic and volatile it will never sleep,
From within the soul it speaks out loud,
Yes each poem makes our people proud!
Turned into rhyme life beckons and calls
Swift the pace as each minute calls,
From the times of way back when,
Men and women have used the pen.
Words of wisdom and also of praise,
How they record what each heart says,
Structure and style changed over the years,
Filling books with laughter and tears.
Wars and famines all manner of things,
Joy and sorrow is what verse brings,
Sit and contemplate the power of speech,
Fact and fiction are both within reach.
Read these lines reflect on each word,
How they portray things that have occurred,
Bared the heart to touch your soul,
Lets you sample part of the whole.
