Distances

One may wonder about space and things,
Staggering the study and satisfaction it brings,
Read an article what have you got?
Knowledge plus wisdom if you search a lot!

Use the computer it's how to act,
Check out details about any given fact,
Dealing with time galaxies and stars,
Beyond our comprehension using planes and motor cars.

An ancient galaxy the furthest ever found,
Makes one speculate what's really around,
Three hundred thousand kilometers per second isn't slow,
But when multiplied you still don't know.

Fascinating these figures what do you see?
Interpretation and reality is surrounded in history,
That distant object is it still there?
Or perhaps disintegrated and now thin air.

But if visiting places of this kind,
Where and when and what would you find,
Orbits may change and the years multiply,
Visually through telescopes even galaxies die.

How many exist can we find more?
What has happened to the light we saw,
It carries on when will it cease,
Does it weaken or steadily increase?

We don't worry about these things much,
Too vast actually to assess or touch,
Suffice to acknowledge it's a mighty long way,
Having no relevance to what we do today.
About this poem;-
This was written after reading about light years and
distant stars, it is a fascinating subject and it
stirred my imagination hence the poem.
