The Other Heart

A falling of the other kind, it "drops"
From low to high. Downward--it can be
Downright fatal, if not caught or saved--
In time...no sooner, no later.
Heavier than all the gold in all the world,
It crashes down--hard and heartfelt.
Its meaning, for all its worth--
Defies words and pictures, and it
Is as mind altering as it is affirming.
This falling has made you--fall to pieces,
But thank Heaven, it has also made you--
Whole again--
Lifted up to where you are
Now old and aging...
Gracefully and proudly--
Waltzing all your days and nights away
To the rhythm and music
Of two hearts beating as one.
One heart is yours. The other heart,
Thank God, is mine.
