The Merchant and her Wife

A merchant by trade,
She sailed the sea
Giving gifts from
Lands afar to me
There once was nothing
Worth more, in my eyes,
Than the merchant's travels
And every surprise
Robes of red silk
A pot of blue clay
She'd leave and return
Except for one day
She left on an ordinary
Trip to the West Indies
When a storm arose
A merchant lost to the sea
Every night I lie awake
Wondering about when
The stars would align
So that I could see her again
