The Air At The Top

In all that I ever have read or been told,
At the top of a mountain, the air’s always cold.

That may be true for mountains. For people, not so!
It’s always much nicer up high than down low.

And though it may seem like a difficult climb,
When we fear we lack courage or fear we lack time,

If we angle our bodies to point toward the sun
And we merely step forth, we’ve already begun.

So each step accomplished, how quick or how slow,
Means just so much less of the journey to go.

Then one day we wake up to know that we’re done
And we see the blue sky and we feel the bright sun.

For whatever the weather’s like on the way there,
No matter how frosty or how thin the air,

No matter what darkness, what wind or what storm,
The air at the top’s always sunny and warm.
