Meal Break

Lets sit a while on soft green ground,
Look about see what is found,
Ants they scurry to and fro,
A belated dewdrop with a sparkling glow.

Daisies in abundance midst weeds and grass,
Reflections from windows of sunstruck glass,
Nary a bird at this time seen,
But by sound I know where they've been.

Shadows move in the gentle breeze,
Leaves on branches it's what one sees,
Feel the warmth of the midday sun,
A cup of tea and fresh buttered bun.

Who can ask for anything more?
The only sound a hammer next door,
A cloudless sky what a beautiful blue,
Serenaded by birds that sing to you.

A gardener's benefit during a meal break,
Now and then  a privilege to take,
In this environment select your seat,

Here's a chance to rest the feet.

About this poem;-

I had been wiorking in the garden and
decided to have a meal break. I set up
my portable chair on the lawn and while
relaxing and having a meal I wrote this
poem, nature truly is amazing.

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
