Johnny

did you meet LaVey
hitchiking through Cedar Lake?
bald like Mr. Clean
but with a nose-ring
where were you born?
where did you come from?
did your father and his brothers
make white lightning
and moonshine runs
for the mafia?
where is it from which I come?
Did my great great uncle
really see
werewolves jump
from rooftop to rooftop
in Romania?
did he conjure the devil
and send everyone from the room
ghost-white and riddled with mania?
what's in my blood?
I traced it back to the boats
but I'm missing a branch
from the family tree
Is that from where the truth comes?
tossed in the wood-chipper
our darkest secrets unsung
