In the Darkness

In the darkness of my heart I hear your call,
I hear you even as you watch me fall.
I try to gather up my strength and and listen from within,
But loneliness is all I find, camouflaged in sin.

In the darkness of my soul I feel your tears,
The tears you've cried for all these many years.
If only I could see the light, I might escape the pain,
But in my doom your tears are lost in cloudiness and rain.

In the darkness of my life I hear your name,
And you say that you still love me just the same.
I do not understand your love, still strong when I am not,
Forevermore I'll try to find this love that I forgot.

In the darkness of myself I feel your touch,
The touch that says you want me very much.
Too near I stand, afraid to know, what lies in wait for me,
In the darkness of the day you gave to me.
