Katrina

Ever so harshly the wind breezes by,
Crossing forever the world and the sky.
Leaving behind in it's pathway of pain,
Destruction, dessertion, despair and disdain.

Huddled in darkness awaiting their fate,
The lives that are left in a chaotic state
Feeling the loss in their wind ravaged hearts
Stranded and staggering, the struggling now starts.

Homeless and hungry and hot as the sun,
Days without water, not food left for one,
Left on their roof to watch bodies float past,
Forsaken, forgotten, for being the last.

Their cries went unheeded their troubles unheard,
Then the American people said this is absurd.
Through private donations and American Red Cross,
Publicly people prevented more loss.

The government failed them and left them to die,
But the American people would not let it lie.
They teamed up together in boats and in trucks,
To save all the people whose government s***s.
