Gloried Youth

I crave a lullaby
Time has dulled to me
Though happiness is there
In its melody

Like a universal love
Drawing from the past
Memories about
The things that never last

I wear it like a wool
In the depth of winters heel
I bathe in like a river
Sanctified to heal

To shield form hapless arrows
As a dream within a dream
To recapture innocence
To rebuild self-esteem

And yet in its healing honey
Lies the bitter truth
That age is all about me
And gone is gloried youth.
