Fly Away

Fly little sparrow, fly fly away.
Don't look back, just keep going straight.
You can't be hurt anymore; fly far away.

No one comprehends your internalized pain.
If you hesitate and turn back now it'll be too late.
Fly little sparrow, fly fly away.

You know for certain this is not the place to stay;
where the things that linger are malice and hate.
You can't be hurt anymore; fly far away.

You can start a new life; a new family someday.
It's right here in front of you; there's no need to wait.
Fly little sparrow, fly fly away.

Mother, Father, let go of the chain, you pray.
You did nothing for me, and now you know your fate.
You can't be hurt anymore; fly far away.

What color would be the shade of hate?
There is no need to be constantly afraid.
Fly little sparrow, fly fly away.
You can't be hurt anymore; fly far away.

Kaylene McLaughlin

I am an artist. I draw and paint mostly pop art related to musicians, and I play instruments including piano, harmonica, and I sing. I write my own songs sometimes, and when I add lyrics to the tune, that is my form of poetry. I love to write creative pieces. My musical side is a strong part of my soul, and this year, (09-10) I am going to perform in Disney World for 1 week with my school. I am currently a sophomore living in Wisconsin. I am very creative and fun.My main style in poetry is loss, love and most of all, addiction. I write about my personal experiences, including drug addictions. I write about thoughts that went through my mind during the difficult times of my addictions so hopefully people will read my work and realize the pain and suffering I caused and went through. Hopefully they won't go through what I went through. more…
