What is it Like

What is it like to be you, little lamb,
to roam the earth without responsibilities,
with innocence which warms the coldest hearts?
Oh, how envious I am.

What is it like to be you, little doe,
to live your life without demanding pressures,
without inquiring futures or crooked pasts?
I know that my jealousy does show.

What is it like to be you, little hare,
to hop around so carefree
with ignorance of your delicate life and death?
You're so lucky; it doesn't seem fair.

What is it like to be you, little kitty,
to be constantly loved everywhere you go,
to nap and play all day long?
There's no description of this infinite jealousy.

What is it like to be you, little pup,
to live entirely in comfort
being man's best friend all your life?
To have an opportunity as such is what I would love.

And what is it like to be me; you ask?
It isn't a life full of luxury, that's for sure;
with the pressures of life and the hammering fear of death.
You're so lucky to be you; enjoy it while it lasts.

Kaylene McLaughlin

I am an artist. I draw and paint mostly pop art related to musicians, and I play instruments including piano, harmonica, and I sing. I write my own songs sometimes, and when I add lyrics to the tune, that is my form of poetry. I love to write creative pieces. My musical side is a strong part of my soul, and this year, (09-10) I am going to perform in Disney World for 1 week with my school. I am currently a sophomore living in Wisconsin. I am very creative and fun.My main style in poetry is loss, love and most of all, addiction. I write about my personal experiences, including drug addictions. I write about thoughts that went through my mind during the difficult times of my addictions so hopefully people will read my work and realize the pain and suffering I caused and went through. Hopefully they won't go through what I went through. more…
