Depression 1

Some say, I wasn't always down;
Long ago, happiness I found.
These pathetic sentiments are sad:
Mere memory of what we all once had
Some slip and slid out of the loop.
Feelings of joy they can't recoup.
Sinking into a quagmire of doom:
No hope for tomorrow, nothing but gloom.
Some seek exits from this morass,
Filling lives with things they amass.
Sex, alcohol and drugs won't help dodge;
For emptiness there is no camouflage.
Some depression is functional.
Causes are situational.
The locked-in past-thoughts now must rupture.
Therapy for cognitive ôrestructure.
Some depression is clinical:
Brain imbalance is chemical.
Medicines can place back in order,
Pharmaceutics chosen reconnoiter.
