The Tender Rose

Roger Gilbert 1956 (Indiana)

The Rose that´s gently planted,
In the garden of Delight;
Starts out as just a seedling,
Beholds the Gardener´s sight.

The Gardener gently grooms it,
With tender loving care;
And waits for Heaven´s glory,
It´s fragrance, softly share.

The thorns that line the pathway,
That reach its precious goal;
As dewdrops float from Heaven,
That quench  this thirsty soul.

The time is now for pruning,
Gently cradled in His hand;
Given of the Father,
And adored in Glory Land.
