STEPS

I take one step forward and two steps back. I don't know how long it will take to get there, but I know I will because my feet will not allow me to stand still. The person you see is not the same person you saw yesterday, nor will you see tomorrow. With each passing day, I grow, learning more as I go.

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Did I see the ghosts of my ancestors coming and the songs of angels being sung here? I sit on my throne, wanting more than what's behind all the numbered doors.

What steps have this life brought to me this soul as I traveled the seven seas over centuries looking for a reason to believe I take these steps for they are my own and no one else's, for it will be only me that gets knocked down if I trip
