The Bluebird

The Bluebird

Small feet, weightless perch
Wearing marshmallow denim,
An untouched petal.

The feathered berry
Sits, sweetly saturating,
Ripening with warmth.

Lidded seed-sized eyes,
Sleepy, dreaming macaron,
Lost in citrus thought.

About this poem

This is a combined poem composed of three haiku. I greatly enjoy the outdoors and wildlife. What better form to explore natures nuggets of beauty than a haiku! My mother and I relish in the intricate bluebird and its vivid happy existence.

I am from a small town in Upstate New York called Kendall. I grew up there surrounded by the natural world and love to study and engage with wildlife. I am graduating college in May 2024 with a BFA in Studio Art. I have always been drawn to the drops of bright color in the natural world, and I find that poetry is an excellent way to express that fascination. more…
