Merle's Victory Over Grief

Merle's Victory Over Grief

From that very first movement on the inside,
to the experience of delivering you at birth.
And the very first time you opened your eyes,
there was no words for what our bond was worth.

Your first words, and steps, and playful moments
will never leave my mind.
Every transition you went through
from toddler to teenager,
I was always there by your side.

As your mother,
son, you will forever be loved.
And no one will ever take your place.

To have witnessed you grow,
then be forced to let you go,
was an unimaginable reality
I had to face.

But thank God
I did not have to face losing you alone.
His grace was sufficient for thee.
Instead of being consumed
with wrathful vengeance,
God showed great mercy on me!

There were days where I could not smile the same
and seemingly endless nights full of tears.
But Jesus comforted me through the pain
and kept me strong through the years.

I give God all the glory for the joy He has given me,
despite a loss unlike any other.
Jesus has blessed me with forgiveness and peace.
And I thank Him for allowing me to be your mother.

Though you were taken too soon,
I will always be grateful for the time you were here.
Jesus is my Savior, life, and strength.
He gave me hope, that in Him I will never have to fear.

Though depression did battle me, it did not win.
I am the Victor; by His stripes I am healed.
With the Lord on my side,
victory today is mine.
I am a witness that my God is for real.

So now when I think of you, though I miss you still,
I will laugh thinking of all the good days.
I thank God for keeping me and mending my heart.
Son I want you to know, you will have my love always.
