I Seek Refuge

Anouar AGGOUNE 2001 (Barbacha)

I seek refuge in the darkness of the night,
For my fears are lucid in the light,
Their shapes distinct each and every time,
Yet in me, the same feeling they invite.

I gazed into the abyss, and it gazed back,
And I became a monster, I bear the mark,
I feel fearless and anything I could fight,
Yet still, I seek refuge in the dark.

Often I wondered the reason why,
People sleep when the sky,
Is glittering and displays the stars,
For us to ponder and look up high.

Then I've gathered that unlike me,
For their purpose, they need to see,
What lies ahead, they need the light,
Yet only at night, I feel free.
