Back to the Hill

Back to the hill, I walk up again
The once-blooming pink wisteria tree now lies dead
This once wooded thriving place of joy and love
Only brings guilt for words too many said

My spring king is gone, he turned and fled

Dead rotting leaves littering the ground
As my heart scars and hardens to steel
Never again will I feel that warmth
Now on it is love that I refuse to feel

By this king, on love, I have been misled

I look around on this now barren hill
A chilling wind howling through the air
You've left me alone I've cast you aside
Here I once felt whole now I feel bare

For this king's forgiveness, I once pled

In this garden of Eden, I once sat in and laughed
Now this knife at my throat I hold by the shaft
I drop it and cry as I miss you Aviv
But it's my fault you left me that much I can perceive

Now this king's love isn’t all that I've shred
And our happiest memories I hold onto by a thread

About this poem

This poem is a sequel to my poem Up on the hill. this poem was written post-breakup with my boyfriend Aviv who the first poem was written about. Fun little thing, Aviv means spring in Hebrew hence him being my spring king, or at least my former spring king.
