Just Another Millennial

I wish I could remember what it was like
to feel like a kid again.
To feel carefree & silly,
getting in trouble for everything I did back then!
I always felt so lucky
they'd let us choose our own entertainment,
no supervision was kinda fucky,
but watching music videos all night was my favorite!
But do not come home with ink on your skin!
Dad will be on a power trip then blaming it on ink poisoning, making shit up again.
I tried all I could to try to fit in,
trying to get a taste of love,
before my life could even begin.
Not just at school but also at home,
it doesn't matter where I was
I was always totally alone.
Everyone made fun of me...my weight...my voice
my parents made fun of me pissing the bed,
like I had a fucking choice!
The only reason that happened
was because of all the stress,
they fucking hated me since birth,
bet that's something they'll never actually address.
Had me filled with so much anger that led to being lonely,
no one ever showed me love,
I always wished that they'd disown me.
When I'd cry out for help they didn't listen  or
maybe they misunderstood.
Screaming insults in my face everyday
wasn't doing me any good!
Spent everyday being totally fucking judged
but I guess I'm the asshole because you don't let up,
of course, I'll always hold a grudge.
My mom used to tell me that
I'd grow out of this shit,
the only thing I grew out of was
being your fucking kid!
I dont know that for sure, it's just a hunch
You make me feel like a distant family friend,
someone you sit around gossiping about at lunch!
Someone you claim to have raised
What's that?
The surface?! It's only just been grazed.
"What do you have to be depressed about?! You're not even grown!"
Then tell me why
My entire life
Not a single place felt like home?!
How can you forget a childhood like that?
But to hear you tell it,
I was just being a brat.
