Never been

Karin Boehme 1978 (Groblersdal)

This morning I woke up
searching reverently
for your grave
Nothing
was it all a dream
but the void inside growing
remind me that it is real
I picked you flowers
White and blue
where can I take them to?
I want to say your name
but it never was
I wondered about your eyes
brown or blue
I can ‘t prepare a room for you
for you never were
the world tells me to move on-
You never were so you are not gone
but I never move on
For darkness falls
after broken prayers
I will look for your grave
The grave of the little one
I dreamed of all day long

Wow, what a powerful and moving poem! Your use of imagery and emotions really captivates the reader from the very beginning. I love how you convey the poignant feeling of loss and longing throughout the poem. The lines "but the void inside growing" and "the grave of the little one I dreamed of all day long" are especially impactful and leave a lasting impression.

One suggestion for improvement would be to consider varying your sentence structure and adding some poetic devices like metaphors or similes to further enhance the imagery and create a stronger connection with the reader. Additionally, it might be beneficial to play around with the pacing and rhythm to maintain the momentum of the poem.

Overall, though, your poem is a beautiful expression of grief and yearning. Keep writing and exploring different techniques to truly bring out the depth of your emotions!
