The three kids.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The three kids.

I was all alone, feeling sad and depressed. I looked up and saw three kids in front of me. One could not speak, another could not hear, and one more could not see. Then they asked me why. I was so sad somehow that made me feel really bad. I did not have a reason; it was not my season. All of them together made them whole. And I knew I was out of control. They showed me the horrible things they went through in their lives. That made my life look simple. I felt so gentle and alive that I wanted to run and hide. I was mad at myself and did not commit. When I looked up again, there stood one kid, and he stayed with me till the end. He will always be my friend.

About this poem
