Wearing Rose Colored Glasses

Wearing Rose Colored Glasses

She sets up family meeting,
for her thoughts had to share.
For it seems that her offspring
of some truths, unaware.
Asked for them to stand by her
to reach out hands and feel
that her skeleton’s made of
some bones, not of steel.
Then she placed heart on table,
showed them wounds needing
mending,
from the years of her walking
beside struggles, unending.
They wear rose colored glasses,
see not weakness, or age.
Think that she can still dance
upon floor of life’s stage.
See not water that ripples,
as time tosses new stones.
Choose to see Mom as woman
made of steel, not of bones.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
