What’s In A Poem

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

What’s in a poem?
bread, water, air

Every blink
click of the pen
every step
ballpoint hits paper
lips depart
creating noire stories

Inhaling passion,
exhaling heartbeats
voices and breaths
melting between pages

Feelings of mute ones
by choice or circumstance
finally heard
finally understood

What’s in a poem?
only our livelihoods
both known and secret

I love to express myself through poetry. I can’t force inspiration so I only write when I feel moved. Authenticity is important to me!! If I can make anyone feel heard and understood, Then my goal is accomplished. more…

Beautiful. Just today I was thinking of riding a poem about a poem that's weird.
