Rage

As I deal with normal everyday stress,
I will share a story of great distress.
I battle my illness trying to win,
It grips me it grabs and I take it on the chin.
It always is there as I dodge and I weave,
All I want is the sickness to leave.
The longer I fight it as I will not succumb,
My heart pounds daily and beats like drum.
My soul searches always for the key to this cage,
I feel sadness and fear but most of all rage.

About this poem

I wrote this poem years ago battling a serious illness that I still deal with to this day. I am better than when I wrote this but still feel always I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have grown stronger from this constant battle and through friends and God’s hand am still here. I still struggle with the rage and darkness but my faith in God, family and friends I fight on.
