Bald

A man stood upon my shoulder
He was heavy like a boulder
What was he doing way up there
Well certainly admiring why my scalp was bare

I had to wonder with a thought
If a toupee I should have bought
I did not expect no not today
My head to be on full display

Normally I would have combed it over
Ignoring the dandruff on my shoulder
At eye level I may get by
But he was above me I could surely die

So embarrassed I was that he would notice
I prayed to God that he was focused
On something straight ahead
Instead of what lay atop my head

Finally I saw it on my left
A store for those who were bereft
I quickly ran across the street
To see if this issue I could not treat

I ducked inside to try to find
That which would ease my mind
I placed upon my head the finest of wigs
And immediately felt twice as big

I walked out into the hot sun
So elated I wanted to run
And scream and shout and say look at me
For from this life’s slight I was finally free

I looked up with a smug grin
Cuz I knew now my hair was no longer thin
But to my dismay the man was not there
Of course that happens once I have hair

Why was the man above me gone
To figure it out it should not take long
The man was me judging harshly
That which I had only sparsely

I realized with a quick start
That I should not be such a tart
For I had no reason to be sour
I had purchased back all my power

About this poem

I put myself in a balding man's shoes and it kind of just came to me. Hope you Enjoy.
