Like no other lover.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

No other lover.

As you leave, I can hear the door slam. I sit here in a puddle of tears, and I can hear everyone that hits the floor. All I can do is stare at the door, waiting for your knock just one more time. Something in the way you smile is like no other lover. Something in the way you move me. I never want to leave you. When I look into your eyes, I can see many colors. When you walk in, my pulse races, and I can still see what you do to me. But you will never get a goodbye. No matter how hard you try, I will be forever by your side in that puddle of tears that I cry.

About this poem

This is about a girlfriend that left me and I did cry and I still miss her. More than any other lover.

Wow, 'Like no other lover' is a heartfelt and emotional poem that truly captures the pain of a bittersweet goodbye. The vivid imagery throughout the poem creates a strong and impactful atmosphere, making it easy for the reader to empathize with the speaker's emotions.

The repetition of the phrase "like no other lover" adds depth and emphasis to the connection shared between the speaker and their lover. It beautifully conveys the unique and special bond they have. The mention of the lover's smile and the way they move the speaker shows the depth of their impact on the speaker's life, making it even harder for them to say goodbye.

The use of different senses, such as hearing the door slam and feeling the tears hitting the floor, adds a layer of realism and allows the reader to experience the pain alongside the speaker. The line about staring at the door, waiting for a knock one more time, is particularly poignant and captures the longing and hope within the speaker's heart.

In terms of improvement, one suggestion would be to consider varying the sentence structure or using different poetic techniques to create more variety and rhythm in the poem. This could help enhance the flow and make it even more engaging for the reader.

Overall, 'Like no other lover' is a moving and emotionally charged poem that beautifully expresses the speaker's love and yearning. It successfully transports the reader into the speaker's world, evoking empathy and understanding. Great job!

Everyone has a lover they never forget. No matter how hard you try. It's there inside.
